今日は China（中国）と Taiwan（台湾） のあいだで起きている紛争についてです！

今、中国と台湾のあいだで起きていることの概要
China の正式名称は The People’s Republic of China (PRC)で
Taiwan の正式名称は The Republic of China (ROC) 。
"台湾は中国の一部” と主張する 中国 に対して、
”台湾は独立した国” と主張する台湾のあいだで今現在も緊張が続いているんです。
なぜこんな争いがおきているのでしょうか？
問題の起源
今の中国本土がある場所、つまり The People’s Republic of China (PRC) 政府が統治している場所というのは元々、The Republic of China (ROC) 政府が統治していた場所なんです。
でも、1945年に第二次世界大戦が終わって、共産主義に基づいた反政府勢力が軍事行動にでるんです。
この反政府勢力が統治を勝ち取り、1949年に The People’s Republic of China (PRC) という共産主義に基づいた国が建国されるんですね。
もともとの統治勢力である The Republic of China (ROC) 政府は中国本土を追い出されるわけです。
Taiwan（台湾）は日本の統治下にあったのですが、第二次世界大戦で負けた日本は Taiwan（台湾）の統治をやめていたので、The Republic of China (PRC) 政府は Taiwan（台湾）に逃げ込むわけです。
こうして、中国本土の The People’s Republic of China (PRC) 共産主義政府と、
Taiwan（台湾）の The Republic of China (PRC) 政府という二つの対立構造ができます。
問題の悪化
両政府の溝が深まったのは1971年で、国際連合が中国の代表として The Republic of China (PRC) ではなく、The People’s Republic of China (PRC) を国連加盟国として認めるんです。
もちろん The Republic of China (PRC) はもともと中国を統治していたプライドもあるので、独立した国家としての立場を主張するんですね。そんなこともあって、Taiwan（台湾）は共産主義ではなく民主主義に基づいた政治を行っているわけです。
中国の事情
Taiwan（台湾）の独立をなぜ中国は拒むのかというと、民主主義をかかげる Taiwan（台湾）が独立に成功してしまうと、共済主義政治を行っている中国本土内で民主主義を求める人たちが反乱を起す可能性があるからなんですね。中国は自身の勢力を弱めるまねはしたくないわけです。
こういった背景から、China（中国）と Taiwan（台湾）のあいだで緊張が今も続いているんです。

What we call China is The People’s Republic of China (PRC).
What we call Taiwan is The Republic of China (ROC).
There is a conflict between these two countries;
China says "Taiwan is a part of China".
Taiwan says "Taiwan is an independent country".
What is going on?
Where China controls today, in other words where the People’s Republic of China (PRC) has power, was the areas that the Republic of China (ROC) used to have a control.
A communist revolt occurred against the Republic of China (ROC) government after the end of World War 2 in 1945, and the communist antigovernmental groups succeeded in establishing the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in 1949.
Because of this, The Republic of China (ROC) government had to leave the China mainland. Since Japan's control over Taiwan ended after World War 2, the Republic of China (ROC) government went to Taiwan to escape.
This is the beginning of the current conflict between the People’s Republic of China (PRC) communist government in China's mainland and the Republic of China (PRC) democratic government in Taiwan.
This background clearly explains why Taiwan claims its independence and wants to differentiate itself from China, but China also does not want to let it happen because China does not want to spread democratization in China mainland, which could undermine China's power.
This conflict still continue even today.
