今日はアフリカにある Mozambique（モザンビーク）で起きている紛争についてです！

独立後
Mozambique（モザンビーク）は比較的新しい国で、1975年にポルトガルの植民地支配から独立したんです。
西洋の影響力から解放されたはいいものの、Mozambique（モザンビーク）の国内では安定した統治制度や政治体制がまだ確立していないわけで、1977 年から1992年まで、新しくできた政府とRENAMOという反政府軍のあいだで内戦が始まるんですね。
西洋支配を相手に共に戦っていた Mozambique（モザンビーク）の人たちは、西洋の影響力がなくなると、国内で争うようになるわけです。
内戦後
1992年にいったん内戦が終わり、RENAMO反政府軍は国の政党になるのですが、選挙でも政府側が勝っていて、この両極の対立構造が続いていきます。
RENAMO反政府軍は、政府による政治や経済、選挙の独占に不満を抱いていて、国家や生活の安定を望んでいるんですね。
とくに、Mozambique（モザンビーク）は天然ガスや石油のとれる国であるにも関わらず、その経済的利益が雇用の創出や貧困削減、土地の分配などを通して国に上手く分配されていない、と RENAMO反政府軍は主張しています。
こういった主張が政府によって改善されない状況の中で、2012年にRENAMO反政府軍は軍事攻撃を始めます。この紛争が2016年まで続き、2016年に国際機関のサポートもあって政府がRENAMO反政府軍との平和を約束するのですが、紛争は終わらなかったんですね。
過激派組織の参入
そして、この混乱状況に目をつけたのがイスラム過激派の軍事組織です。
2017年から、様々な過激派組織が Mozambique（モザンビーク）の豊かな天然資源をもとめて活動をはじめ、Cabo Delgado(カボデルガド) という地域にある港を占拠したりしているんです。
この Cabo Delgado(カボデルガド) という地域は隣国の Tanzania（タンザニア）との国境に面していて、今現在も両国に影響が広がっているんですね。
長い間紛争が続いていて不安定な Mozambique（モザンビーク）は、過激派組織が人々を勧誘して勢力を広げる舞台となるわけです。

Mozambique got independence from Portugal in 1975, but soon the country faced civil wars from 1977 to 1992 between the new government and an antigovernmental group RENAMO.
In 1992 when the civil war ended, RENAMO became a political party, but the conflict between the two continued because the government kept more power than RENAMO. RENAMO was not happy about the politics, economy and elections under the Mozambican government, and one of the reasons is because revenues from natural gas and oils were not well distributed in the country in order to reduce its poverty and unemployment.
In 2012, RENAMO started military actions against the government, and the conflict lasted until 2016 when international organizations urged them to stop.
Under this unstable situation, some radical Islamist groups tried to expand their influence and gain the rich natural resources in Mozambique since 2017. As a result, a port in Cabo Delgado area in Mozambique, called Mocimboa da Praia, was occupied by the radical islamists.
Since Cabo Delgado is located in the border with Tanzania, the impact has spread to the neighboring countries as well.
