Nicaragua

今回は中南米にある Nicaragua(ニカラグア)についてです!

In 2018, Nicaragua had a massive protest against the government and has been unstable until today.

Nicaragua historically had a dictatorship by Somoza family, but in 1961, a socialist political party Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) was formed and overthrew the dictatorship with the Soviet support.

Daniel Ortega from Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) became a president.

However, soon Contras to fight against FSLN government was formed.

Since Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) was supported by the Soviet Union, Contras was supported by the United States.

The conflict between the two political powers continued, and Contras won the election.

In 2007, Daniel Ortega from Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) became a president again. Since he does not want to let Contras to have political power over FSLN, he started dictatorship. FSLN was originally formed to overthrow dictatorship, but it ended up to start a dictatorship.

In 2018, people started protesting to demand democracy, but Daniel Ortega fought back with military.

This conflict has still continued today.
